Passage of Scripture Matthew 22:15-22.  Start by reading the passage several times until something stands out from the rest.   From that Scripture, what stood out to me were the words: "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

Observation:

Jesus is answering the Pharisees question, "Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"  Jesus is irritated and knows their evil intent so he asks them to show him the coin.  He then asks, "Whose portrait is this? and whose inscription?"  They reply Caesar's.  We are to obey the laws of the land.

Application:

I have been taught this Scripture so many times, often related to tithing.  But this time when I read I saw instead, "...and to God what is God's."  God asks us for just one thing.  In the story of Mary and Martha Jesus says to Martha, "My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details.  There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her." TIME WITH THE MASTER: fuels, ignites, guides, sustains, and empowers absolutely everything. "The Words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life."

In spending time with the master we get to know Him. One thing is needed--one thing I do. Not 10 to15 things --only ONE.

Repeat daily as musicians, athletes, anyone practicing to be anything do. Practice daily sitting at His feet. He will surprise you with his kind attention. He's waiting for you.
